Terms of Service

1 Service Description

SHADOW is a zero-knowledge encrypted file transfer service. Users can upload encrypted files that recipients download and decrypt client-side. The service:

• Never has access to plaintext file contents or encryption keys
• Does not log metadata about transfers
• Employs mandatory TOTP two-factor authentication for all accounts
• Operates on a token-based economy (1 token = 1 MB transfer capacity)

2 Eligibility

To use SHADOW, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
• Not be located in a jurisdiction where use of the service is prohibited by law
• Not be on any sanctions list or trade embargo

3 Account Registration & Security

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username, password, and TOTP authenticator device.
• You must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent token limits or pricing tiers.
• You are fully responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at security@shadowfile.ir.
• SHADOW is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account if you fail to keep your credentials secure.

4 Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use SHADOW for:

• Uploading or distributing illegal content, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), terrorism-related content, or content that violates any applicable law
• Malware distribution — uploading viruses, ransomware, trojans, or any malicious code intended to harm systems or users
• Phishing or social engineering attacks
• Any activity that violates the intellectual property rights of others
• Attempting to circumvent the service's technical protections, rate limits, or security measures
• Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract source code from the service
• Using automated scripts, bots, or scrapers without express written permission
• Uploading data that exceeds your purchased token capacity

Violation of these terms will result in immediate account termination without refund.

5 Token Purchase & Payments

5.1 Token System

• 1 token equals 1 MB of transfer capacity.
• Tokens are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• New accounts receive 5 complimentary tokens.
• Tokens do not expire as long as the account remains active (no more than 12 months of inactivity).
• Tokens are consumed when the recipient downloads an encrypted file.

5.2 Payment Methods

• Bank cards (Iranian) — processed via Zarinpal. Prices are listed in Iranian Toman.
• Cryptocurrency — USDT on TRC-20 network. Prices are listed in USDT.

5.3 Refund Policy

All token purchases are final. Refunds are issued only in cases of proven technical failure that prevented token delivery, at SHADOW's sole discretion. To request a refund, contact billing@shadowfile.ir within 7 days of purchase.

6 Data Retention & Deletion

• Encrypted files are automatically deleted immediately after the first download by the recipient.
• Files not downloaded within 7 days of upload are automatically purged.
• We retain no copies of encrypted files after deletion.
• Account data is retained until you delete your account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

7 Intellectual Property

The SHADOW name, logo, design system, and source code are proprietary. The server-side source code is not open source. The client-side encryption protocol is publicly documented and auditable.

You retain all rights to the files you upload. SHADOW claims no ownership over your content.

8 Disclaimer of Warranties

SHADOW is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Warranties regarding the correctness, reliability, or completeness of the service

Because SHADOW is a zero-knowledge system, we cannot and do not warrant that we can recover your data, decrypt files, or assist with lost encryption keys or forgotten passwords.

9 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SHADOW and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
• Service interruption, data loss, or unauthorized access arising from your use of the service
• Any damages exceeding the amount you paid to SHADOW in the 12 months preceding the claim

This limitation applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if SHADOW has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SHADOW, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the service in violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
• Your content or data uploaded to the service

11 Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, for any violation of these Terms (especially the Acceptable Use policy).
• Discontinue the service or any part of it at any time, with reasonable notice posted on the website.

Upon termination, your account and all associated data (including any undownloaded encrypted files and unused tokens) will be permanently deleted. No refunds will be issued for terminated accounts.

12 Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iran. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through the following process:

• Negotiation — first, attempt to resolve informally by contacting support@shadowfile.ir
• Arbitration — if negotiation fails, disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration in Tehran, Iran, in accordance with the rules of the Iranian Arbitration Centre

13 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via:

• A notice on the SHADOW website
• Email notification (if you have provided an email address)

Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the service and delete your account.
